It was an early start this morning, breakfast, check out and then on the road again. First stop Lühn, to visit a spectacular gorge. We had to climb 352 steps to get to the vantage point. Before Lühn we came across a car park with heaps of cars, whilst we were travelling through a spectacular gorge - damn! We missed our stop. 352 steps didn't entice us to get a better view - the gorge we had driven through was epic enough. Then onto Splügen via Andeer. Then via one of the world's greatest drives the San Bernidino Pass, then lunch in Bellinzona, a stop and walk about town in Ascona and off to Lugano - our stop for the night.
We have some photos below or a 10 minute video where John and I talk you through our day. It was truly grandiose!
Dinner at the hotel as the terrace has million dollar views. John ordered Focaccia with mortadella - thinking that it was a cheese. When this focaccia arrived piled high with ham sausage, it was a no go! The staff were very obliging when we explained our mistake.
Buona notte e sogni d'oro - good night and sweet dreams.
