Last stop is Coffs and the beautiful Bonville Golf Course. Previously we haven't had much luck with Bonville weather and true to form the skies greyed as we neared Coffs Harbour. It was pretty chilly too. We are staying at Bonville Golf Resort as this is the only way to guarantee a game on the course. We check in and the rooms are motel style, and with a little "genius" modification to the Flyscreen we have a Car Charging facility - all is hunky dory!
The rooms as basic and ours smells a bit damp, it has a massive spa bath, a small shower, and weirdly the vanity unit is outside of the bathroom. And it is designed for short people only - check out John trying to shave.
Ridiculous really. After having a back breaking shave, we go and watch the sun set and have coctails on the terrace.
Our package includes dinner, so I enjoyed John's oysters and he enjoyed my dessert (I may have tested the dessert to check it was okay.). I was really tired and could have gone to sleep straight away but the Matildas were playing and after all that excitement - it took me a while to get to sleep. John didn't sleep that well, the fridge was making a noise and he was worrying about remembering his house keys which were in the Car and I am sure he was worried about the big game tomorrow!
Being back in NSW is great that I do not have to worry about frogs in the toilets. But the downside is that the bathroom tiles haven't warmed up yet. I had to make a makeshift carpet of towels for a midnight wee - we would have died of shock stepping onto that frozen floor at 3 in the morning. We wake up to a beautiful sunny day.
Unfortunately for John, I played really well - I was in my happy place, looking for Koalas, playing good golf with my husband who wasn't complaining about a thing!
John was lucky enough to get an earlier flight to Sydney, which saved a whole lot of hanging around. As I write this he is already home. Needless to say, I kept a clean sheet, undefeated for the trip. I now meet my bridge partner Felix and his wife Marina at another resort in Coffs Harbour for my first-ever away Bridge Congress. More on that later.
We have been watching a series called Jury Duty on Prime - highly recommend it.
